Apparently dragging USB Overdrive into the Trash wasn't enough and I should've run a dedicated uninstaller application. WTF?ĮDIT2: Okay, now it seems this is definitely USB Overdrive-related, because reinstalling it made mouse/menubar behaviour normal again.
Yes, when I have Chrome open, trying to browse the bookmarks via the menu bar does work, but I have to click each folder name twice.ĮDIT: It seems things actually work normally, AS LONG as I keep holding down the left mouse button. For example if in the menu bar I pick "View" and then "Sort By", the entire "View" menu just disappears. Additionally, in some cases trying to access a sub-menu doesn't work. Now none of them are installed, but I have a problem with the MacOS X menu bar and mouse behaviour: If I click on say, "File" and then move the mouse pointer over to "Edit" or "View", the "File" menu is still shown, I have to explicitly click on "Edit" or "View" in order for them to show up. I've tried at various points in time: RAT 7 drivers from MadCatz, USB Overdrive and SmoothMouse. OK, in my quest to get the mouse feeling just right, I think I broke something.
These issues have to be something Mini and/or OS X-related, because I've used the exact same Dell monitor, same receiver and same TV with my previous desktop PC and this is the first time I am seeing all these problems. Turning the monitor off and back on repeatedly does nothing, but if I unplug the miniDP-DP cable used to attach the monitor to the Mini and plug that back in, the problem resolves itself. I have noticed that this does not occur immideately after the Mini is put to sleep as if I wake it immideately after, the is no problem, it has to bee asleep for a while for the problem to manifest itself.ģ) The 2 problems above are common, daily occurances, but this one has only (thankfully) happened twice: sometimes when the Dell monitor has been off for a while while the Mini has been on, turning the monitor back on results in the monitor saying that there is no signal and automatically going back into sleep. When I come back home and turn it back on, I either get problem #1 or sometimes a different symptom: the resolution of my Dell monitor becomes wrong and I have to manually fix it via System Preferences. This gets fixed by me unplugging the HDMI cable going out of the Mini and into the receiver.Ģ) When I leave for work, I put the Mini to sleep.
When I turn the Dell monitor back on in the morning, quite often I get presented with a weird resolution and the Dock and menu bar both missing.
The TV is sometimes on and sometimes off.ġ) When I go to sleep, I turn off my Dell monitor (and obviously also the TV if was on), but leave my Mini turned on as it serves as my back-up alarm clock. 1) Mac Mini is attached via miniDP-DP cable to the DP port on my Dell U2711 monitor, this is my primary monitorĢ) Mac Mini is also attached via HDMI to my Yamaha AV receveiver (which is always on) which is in turn connected via HDMI to my Sony BRAVIA TV.
